Tyler Perry is once again proving that he knows exactly how to get the footage he needs — and according to Taraji P. Henson, his incredibly fast production schedule is a major part of what makes his filmmaking process so unique.
Perry recently filmed the highly anticipated Netflix sequel, Why Did I Get Married Again?, in just four days. The extremely quick shoot is something Henson described as “refined insanity.”
Henson, who has worked with Perry on several projects throughout her career, explained that his speed comes from his ability to enter production knowing exactly what he wants.
“He knows what he wants. And he’s a technician at what he does.”
She continued by explaining that Perry understands exactly what footage is necessary and can immediately recognize what he has — and what he still needs.
“He knows exactly what’s going on. He knows exactly what he has, what he doesn’t have.”
Taraji P. Henson Has Experienced Perry’s Fast-Paced Productions Before

The four-day production schedule for Why Did I Get Married Again? may sound unbelievable to some fans, but Henson says this isn’t her first experience working under Perry’s accelerated filmmaking process.
Her previous projects with Perry were also filmed remarkably quickly. Henson said Acrimony took approximately five days to shoot, while Straw was completed in just four days.
Henson was even balancing another major project while filming Straw. She was simultaneously working on Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, using a short break in her schedule to film Perry’s movie.
The Why Did I Get Married? Cast Is Back

Why Did I Get Married Again? brings audiences back together with several familiar faces from the franchise, including Tyler Perry, Taraji P. Henson, Sharon Leal, Michael Jai White and Jill Scott.
The Netflix sequel centers around the characters as they reunite for a wedding in Lake Como, while exploring how their relationships and marriages have changed since audiences first met them.
With the original stars returning alongside the next chapter of their stories, fans are already eager to see what Perry has in store.
And if Henson’s comments are any indication, Perry didn’t need months to bring the movie together — he knew exactly what he wanted and got it done.
