Coco Jones’ ‘Bel-Air’ Spinoff ‘Hilary’ in Development at Peacock

Coco Jones’ time as Hilary Banks may not be over just yet. Peacock is developing a new Bel-Air spinoff centered on Jones’ fan-favorite character, with the potential series simply titled “Hilary.”

The project comes after Bel-Air wrapped its four-season run in December 2025, bringing Peacock’s dramatic reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to an end. Jones appeared as Hilary Banks throughout the series, putting her own spin on the character originally played by Karyn Parsons.

Hilary Is Leaving Bel-Air Behind

If the spinoff moves forward, Hilary will trade the Banks mansion and Los Angeles for New York City.

According to the reported premise, Hilary accepts an unexpected job offer from celebrity chef Yvonne Durand and impulsively relocates to New York. There, she is determined to establish herself without depending on her famous family name or Bel-Air connections.

But starting over won’t be as easy as she expects.

The series would explore Hilary as she attempts to build her career while navigating new friendships, romance and the realities of creating a life on her own terms.

A Different Direction From the ‘Bel-Air’ Finale

The proposed spinoff would take Hilary in a different direction from where audiences last saw her.

During the Bel-Air finale, Hilary returned to Los Angeles after spending time in Costa Rica and was focused on opening her own café. The potential spinoff would instead send her across the country, giving the character an entirely new environment and supporting cast.

Interestingly, the move to New York would also create a connection to the original Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Karyn Parsons’ version of Hilary eventually moved to New York in the original sitcom as well.

Tracy Oliver Is Developing the Series

“Hilary” is being developed by Tracy Oliver, the writer and producer behind Girls Trip, Harlem and The Blackening.

Jones is attached to reprise her role and executive produce, while Will Smith is also expected to executive produce alongside members of the Bel-Air production team. Westbrook Studios and Universal Television are behind the project.

The potential series would also mark a significant step for Peacock. If ordered, Hilary would become the streamer’s first scripted original series to receive a spinoff, extending the universe of one of its breakout shows.

‘Hilary’ Has Not Been Ordered to Series Yet

Fans shouldn’t start looking for a premiere date just yet.

“Hilary” is currently in development, meaning Peacock has not officially ordered the project to series. There is also no announced production date or premiere date at this time.

Still, the possibility of Coco Jones leading her own Bel-Air spinoff gives fans another reason to be excited about the franchise’s future.

After four seasons of watching Hilary evolve from a social media influencer into a woman determined to build a career and identity of her own, New York could give the character her biggest fresh start yet.

And this time, Hilary Banks gets to be the main character.
