Sistas has entered a very different era, and longtime fans aren’t shy about sharing how they feel about the changes.
The biggest shake-up came ahead of Season 10, when two of the show’s original stars, Ebony Obsidian and Novi Brown, exited as series regulars. Obsidian played Karen Mott while Brown portrayed Sabrina Hollins, with both actresses having been part of the series since its 2019 debut. (Deadline)
For years, Karen, Sabrina, Andi and Danni formed the core friendship that gave Sistas its identity. So losing two of those original women naturally changed the dynamic of the series.
Karen’s departure was already being set up during the Season 9 finale, which featured a farewell cookout for the character. Sabrina’s exit was even more dramatic, with the Season 9 finale ending with her involved in a fiery car accident. The Season 10 trailer strongly suggested that Sabrina would not survive. (TVLine)
But while some viewers understood the decision to shake things up, others have struggled to connect with the show’s new direction.
New faces are joining the Sistas world
With Karen and Sabrina gone, Sistas introduced two new series regulars: Jordan Coleman as Cheyenne Barnes and Tunde Oyeneyin as Madison Truitt. (Blavity News & Entertainment)
Cheyenne is introduced as Andi’s estranged sister. She is a confident hairstylist with a bold personality, while Madison is an ambitious entrepreneur who has built her own success and is looking for a relationship that matches her standards. (Blavity News & Entertainment)
The additions give the series an opportunity to build new relationships and storylines instead of simply trying to recreate the original group.
Still, that’s easier said than done.
Some longtime viewers have taken to social media to express their disappointment with the changes, particularly the absence of Karen and Sabrina. Fan discussions have included complaints that the new characters don’t feel like a natural replacement for the original women. (Reddit)
At the same time, other viewers are willing to give the new characters a chance and see where Tyler Perry takes their stories.
And that’s ultimately the biggest question surrounding this new era of Sistas: Can the show successfully evolve without two of the women who helped define it?

So while Sistas may look different without Karen and Sabrina, the story isn’t necessarily over.
For some fans, the cast changes could breathe new life into the series. For others, the original chemistry may be something the show can never completely replace.
Either way, the reaction proves just how attached viewers became to Karen and Sabrina after watching them for nine seasons.
