Usher’s Son Cinco Starts College at Howard University

Tameka Foster shares photos from son Cinco’s college move-in at Howard University

Usher’s oldest son, Usher Raymond V, better known as “Cinco,” is officially a college student.

The 18-year-old has started his freshman year at Howard University, making the move to the prestigious historically Black university in Washington, D.C., for the next chapter of his life. His parents, Grammy-winning singer Usher and Tameka Foster, recently helped him move into his dorm.

Tameka Foster Gets Emotional During Move-In

Tameka Foster shared a series of photos from Cinco’s college move-in weekend, giving followers a glimpse at the emotional milestone.

“Momma tiiiired,” Foster joked in her Instagram caption before explaining just how much work went into getting her son settled.

She revealed that the family made multiple trips to the dorm and brought furniture and wallpaper. Foster also said she personally scrubbed the room from top to bottom to make sure Cinco had everything he needed to begin college.

But despite all the work, the moment was understandably emotional for the proud mother.

“Bittersweet doesn’t even cover it,” Foster wrote, explaining that she cried before leaving home and again on the drive back.

Foster said she could not be prouder watching her son “step into an HBCU” and begin building a future of his own.

Usher Celebrates His Son

Usher has also shared his excitement about Cinco beginning his Howard journey.

In a video from move-in day, the singer congratulated his son and encouraged him to embrace the experience ahead.

The proud father told Cinco that being at Howard was “just the beginning” and encouraged him to shine and create his own identity.

Cinco is Usher and Tameka Foster’s oldest child together. The former couple also share a younger son, Naviyd Ely Raymond. Usher is additionally the father of daughter Sovereign Bo and son Sire Castrello with his wife, Jenn Goicoechea.

From High School Graduate to Howard Bison

Cinco graduated from high school earlier this year before beginning his new chapter at Howard. His father celebrated the milestone in May, and reports at the time confirmed that he planned to attend Howard University in the fall.

Now, Cinco is officially a Howard Bison and joins the university’s incoming freshman class.

For Tameka, watching her son leave home has brought back memories of when he was much younger. She recalled dropping him off at daycare as a baby and looking through the window after leaving him there.

Years later, she finds herself experiencing another emotional goodbye as her son begins adulthood.

“Watching him actually do it? There’s nothing like it,” Foster shared.

The proud mom may be tired from move-in weekend, but it is clear that she is celebrating one of the biggest milestones of her son’s life.
