More than six years after Fox canceled Star, creator Lee Daniels says he’s still determined to bring the fan-favorite musical drama back to the screen.
In recent videos shared online, Daniels reiterated his commitment to reviving the series after previously promising fans he wouldn’t give up on finding a new home for the show.
According to Daniels, every major studio he approached has passed on reviving Star. Despite those setbacks, he revealed there is still hope.
Zeus Network Has Expressed Interest
Daniels shared that Zeus Network has shown interest in the project, giving fans another reason to believe the series could eventually return.
He also suggested that YouTube could become a potential platform if a traditional television or streaming deal doesn’t materialize.
Cast Reportedly Ready to Return
Daniels also stated that much of the original cast is on board with returning, including Queen Latifah, who portrayed Carlotta Brown throughout the series.
While no official revival has been announced, Daniels’ latest comments indicate he’s continuing to explore every possible avenue to finish the story.
Fans Never Got Closure
Star premiered in 2016 and followed three talented singers chasing their dreams in Atlanta’s music industry.
The series was unexpectedly canceled by Fox in 2019 after three seasons, leaving viewers with a dramatic cliffhanger that was never resolved. The cancellation sparked years of fan campaigns calling for the show’s return.
Although a revival has yet to receive the green light, Daniels has consistently assured fans that he hasn’t forgotten about Star and remains hopeful that the story will one day continue.
For now, fans will have to wait and see whether Zeus Network, YouTube, or another platform ultimately gives the musical drama a second chance.
