Nearly 30 years after Clueless became a pop culture phenomenon, Paramount+ has officially greenlit a limited sequel series that will bring Alicia Silverstone back as the unforgettable Cher Horowitz.
The upcoming series continues Cher’s story decades after audiences first met the fashionable Beverly Hills teenager in the 1995 classic.
What the Series Is About
According to the official synopsis, the sequel picks up 30 years after the events of the original film.
Cher has grown into a successful businesswoman and mother who believes she has life figured out. However, when her own daughter begins high school, Cher quickly realizes that raising a teenager isn’t as easy as she expected, leaving her feeling “clueless” all over again.
Filming Begins in 2027
Production is expected to begin in Los Angeles in 2027, marking the next chapter for one of the most beloved teen comedies of all time.
A Long Road to the Screen
The sequel series has been years in the making.
According to reports, multiple attempts were made to revive the Clueless franchise. An earlier television project centered on Dionne was developed for Peacock but never moved forward. A separate reboot featuring Alicia Silverstone as Cher was also previously in development before ultimately landing at Paramount+, which moved quickly to greenlight the project.
