BET’s “Sistas” & “Zatima” Creator Tyler Perry is now in talks of becoming the new Owner of BET and if it happens, that would make the most sense!
Tyler is currently the face of the channel as most of the shows on BET & BET+ are owned by him.
Past BET Ceo Debra Lee recently shared her support for Tyler taking over.
She stated:
“A couple of people called me and asked me if was I interested in buying it, I thought about it for maybe 15 minutes. It’s a great network and it’s grown into great multiple networks. But I wasn’t ready to return.
I don’t have a favorite in the fight but I hope it works out great. Tyler Perry has been doing a lot of programming for BET and he has a very faithful audience. But I like being on the sideline watching.”
Debra stated she didn’t have a favorite but name dropped Tyler basically confirming he’s her favorite without actually saying it!
Byron Allen and a group featuring 50 Cent, Shaq, and Kenya Barris are seeking to purchase a majority stake in BET as well.

Sistas follows a group of single Black females as they navigate their “complicated love life,” careers and friendship through the ups and downs of living in a modern world of social media and unrealistic relationship goals. The women must navigate this new-age dating scene as they continue to search for love in their 30’s.
Sistas ensemble cast includes KJ Smith, Mignon, Ebony Obsidian, Novi Brown, Crystal Renee’ Hayslett, DeVale Ellis, Chido Nwokocha, Anthony Dalton II, Brian Jordan Jr., Kevin A. Walton, and Trinity Whiteside.
