BET’s “Sistas” & “Zatima” creator Tyler Perry is currently in talks to own majority of BET and this would be the biggest move ever!
Tyler Perry currently airs tons of hit projects on both BET and the BET+ app.
The legendary entrepreneur has struck gold with hit show “Sistas” and it’s spin off “Zatima” which is gearing up to air Season 2 this month. Tyler is also the brains behind “The Oval” which is also a heavy hitter on the network.
Sistas and The Oval are currently the No. 1 and No. 2 series, respectively, airing on cable with African Americans P2+, per Nielsen.
Executive produced, directed, and written by Perry, The Oval season three averaged 1.3 Million Total viewers Live+3 per episode, and Sistas season four averaged 1.6 Million Total Viewers Live+3 on BET and BET Her every week, according to Nielsen.
Paramount+, the company is reportedly selling the majority ownership stake of BET Media Group, which Perry is rumored to be in talks to acquire. Tyler is currently a minority stake holder and he also helped launch BET+ in 2019, two years after he signed a film and TV deal with BET.
If he was to officially buy the stake in full, this would be one of the biggest moves ever! This will bring more support to his shows that’s already airing on the channel and streaming services.
Plot Of Series:
Sistas follows a group of single Black females as they navigate their “complicated love life,” careers and friendship through the ups and downs of living in a modern world of social media and unrealistic relationship goals. The women must navigate this new-age dating scene as they continue to search for love in their 30’s.
Sistas ensemble cast includes KJ Smith, Mignon, Ebony Obsidian, Novi Brown, Crystal Renee’ Hayslett, DeVale Ellis, Chido Nwokocha, Anthony Dalton II, Brian Jordan Jr., Kevin A. Walton, and Trinity Whiteside.
Zatima‘s cast includes Devale Ellis as Zac, Crystal Renee Hayslett as Fatima, Cameron Fuller as Nathan, Remington Hoffman as Bryce, Nzinga Imani as Angela, Jasmin Brown as Deja, Guyviaud Joseph as Tony, Danielle LaRoach as Belinda and Marquita Goings as Valerie.
The Oval lifts the veil of what can happen when the leader of the free world, his wife, and his family are crazed maniacs. The series also highlights the personal side and everyday lives of the staff who run the inner workings of the nation’s most iconic residence.
