Heartstopper Season 2 is now filming and we’re happy to share with fans that the show will get a bit deeper during the upcoming seasons!
When we say deeper, we mean very deep as they’re focusing a lot on mental health problem with the characters and we can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
Creator Alice Oseman recently did an interview with Pink News and shared the following:
“We will be following the story of the comics very closely, but also expanding and exploring other characters.”
“I am so excited for people to see our mental health story on Heartstopper. I think it will bring something very different. I’m excited to see what people think.”
Alice also talks about representing other community acronyms, as Heartstopper’s intention has always been
“introduce a diverse range of queer characters, not just Nick and Charlie, because the show, in addition to being a novel, is about queer friendships.”
She shared:
“When it comes to less understood queer identities, like asexuality, it can be difficult for writers who don’t have those identities to deal with these stories because they may not understand that experience. Hiring writers who share those identities is a good idea. But also not being afraid to put the spotlight on those stories that normally don’t get the spotlight.”
