BET’s “The Ms Pat Show” Star Ms. Pat & Director Mary Lou Belli React To Emmy Nomination

Ms pat show Emmy’s

The Ms. Pat Show, an American television comedy series developed by Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams and Jordan E. Cooper, made its streaming debut on BET+ on August 12, 2021. The show is based on the humor and real-life experiences of comedian Ms. Pat, a former felon from Atlanta’s streets who is now a hesitant suburban mother. As the second season is set to premiere in the next month, viewers are wondering whether or not the show has been renewed for any more seasons.

The series quickly became a hit over at BET and was renewed for 2 more seasons!

A great gift recently arrived for the show and the cast and crew were shocked.

Ms Pat Show received an Emmy nomination for Directing.

Ms Pat shared:

Mary Lou who also directed shows like “Sister, Sister” and “The Game” shared:

“I’m so pleased. It was my big return to sitcoms,” Belli tells Variety. “D.L. Hughley was a huge, huge advocate at the beginning of my career. We hit it off,” Belli says. “I still have pictures of his wife holding my first child! We’re friends to this day.”

She also spoke on directing Black content:

“It’s the fact that I respected the environment,” Belli says when asked why she thinks she found such success working in Black television. “I didn’t ever presume that I knew more than I did. And I was always respectful when asking things I didn’t know.”

“And with D.L., for example, it was a two-way street,” she continues. “He didn’t know about acting. He was respectful when I would [critique] him. We never patronized each other. I was entering a space where I was the person who hadn’t been there before, and I felt accepted, and I gave that back.”

We love this. Congratulations!
