Fans of Tyler Perry’s Zatima are celebrating the show’s recent Season 6 renewal, but there is one major change coming with the new season.
Season 6 will reportedly consist of 16 episodes—four fewer than the 20-episode seasons that Zatima fans have become accustomed to.
Zatima Season 6 Will Have 16 Episodes
Paramount+ renewed Zatima for a sixth season on August 27, 2026, with reports confirming that the upcoming season has received a 16-episode order. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
The shorter episode count marks a noticeable change for the Tyler Perry drama.
While Season 1 debuted with 10 episodes, Seasons 2, 3 and 4 each expanded to 20 episodes. Paramount+’s own guide confirms that Season 4 ultimately consisted of 20 episodes.
Season 5 is also listed as a 20-episode season, meaning Season 6 is set to be four episodes shorter than Season 5 and the show’s recent seasons.
The Change Could Mean a Different Release Format

Reports indicate that Zatima Season 6’s 16 episodes could be released in two batches of eight episodes, rather than the two 10-episode installments viewers have seen with the show’s 20-episode seasons.
That means fans may have less time with Zac, Fatima and the rest of the Zatima family during the season—at least compared to the show’s more recent 20-episode runs.
Zatima Isn’t Going Anywhere
The good news is that the reduced episode count does not mean Zatima has been canceled.
The series has officially been renewed for Season 6, continuing the story of Zac and Fatima after the show’s transition from BET+ programming to Paramount+.
With Season 5 still bringing fans a full 20 episodes, there is still plenty of Zatima drama ahead before the shorter sixth season arrives.
For now, Paramount+ has not announced a premiere date for Season 6.
Could Season 6’s Shorter Episode Count Change the Storytelling?

That remains to be seen.
With four fewer episodes, fans may be wondering whether Season 6 will move at a faster pace or feature fewer storylines than previous seasons.
Of course, a shorter episode order doesn’t automatically mean the season will feel rushed. But after multiple 20-episode seasons, the change is likely something longtime viewers will immediately notice.
What do you think about Zatima Season 6 being cut from 20 episodes to 16?
