Trinity Whiteside is getting emotional as his youngest son prepares to begin his college journey.
The proud father recently shared a heartfelt Instagram post about his son’s college move-in week, opening up about how difficult it is to watch his “baby” leave home.
“IT’S COLLEGE MOVE IN WEEK!!!!!!!” Whiteside wrote, encouraging other parents going through the same experience to check on their friends because, as he put it, “WE ARE NOT OK!!!”

Whiteside explained that this isn’t his first experience with a child heading off to college, but watching his youngest son leave has affected him differently.
“There’s something that hits you differently when it’s the baby of the family,” he wrote.
The proud dad reflected on the past 18 years, particularly the memories they’ve made watching football together every weekend.
“For 18 years we’ve watched football on the weekends, every weekend, every year,” Whiteside shared.
Now, he knows this football season will feel different with his son away at college.
A Proud Dad Despite the Emotions
While Whiteside admitted that he selfishly wishes his son wasn’t leaving, he also knows this is an important step toward his son’s future.
“Selfishly, I wish he wasn’t leaving, but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” he wrote.
Whiteside praised his son for working hard to reach this point and described college as another necessary step in the process of becoming successful.
“He’s worked hard to get to this point,” he wrote.
He ended the emotional message with a simple but powerful send-off: “Go be great son!”

Whiteside added a funny side note for his followers, revealing that he eventually managed to pull himself together for the photos.
“Side note: I did manage to get myself together by the fifth picture,” he joked.
