Susan Noles is opening up about the end of her relationship with Frederic.
The fan-favorite appeared on the first season of The Golden Bachelor and later found love off-screen with Frederic, a French man she met while vacationing in Saint Martin. Their relationship quickly became a major talking point among Bachelor Nation fans after Susan described him as “the real deal” and said she had found her person.
Now, Susan has confirmed that their romance has come to an end.
During an episode of the Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour podcast, Susan revealed that she and Frederic have officially gone their separate ways. She became emotional while explaining that the decision was not easy because she still has strong feelings for him.
“I’m struggling. I love Fred,” Susan shared.
However, Susan explained that love alone wasn’t enough to overcome some of the differences she and Frederic faced when thinking about their long-term future.
According to Susan, the couple found themselves in very different financial situations and had different expectations when it came to their lifestyles and retirement plans. Those differences ultimately caused her to question whether their relationship could work in the long run.
Susan admitted that she has reached a point where she is trying to listen to her head just as much as she has always listened to her heart.
Susan Once Called Frederic Her “Person”
The breakup marks a significant turn in a relationship that once appeared to be heading in a very promising direction.
Susan first revealed her romance with Frederic in April 2025 after meeting him on Tinder during a trip to Saint Martin. She initially kept the relationship private because she wanted to make sure they were on the same page before going public.
Once she felt confident about their connection, Susan proudly introduced Frederic to Bachelor Nation and said she had “found my person.”
The couple also exchanged “I love yous,” and Susan previously spoke about how cared for she felt in the relationship.
Their romance even sparked engagement speculation in June 2025 when the pair were photographed looking at engagement rings in Saint Martin. Susan clarified at the time that they were “just looking.”
A Difficult Decision
For Susan, this breakup appears to be less about a lack of love and more about recognizing that a relationship needs to work beyond the emotional connection.
Her comments about finances, lifestyle and retirement highlight some of the difficult conversations couples face when deciding whether a relationship has a future.
