Josh Goldstein is facing major backlash from his fellow The Challenge cast members after claiming that Nurys Mateo gave him mixed signals while filming The Challenge 42.
Josh recently suggested that Nurys had asked him to sit with her on the bus while the cameras were not rolling, seemingly offering that interaction as evidence that there was more going on between them than viewers may have realized.
But several Challengers quickly pushed back on his version of events — and they aren’t exactly siding with Josh.
Michele Fitzgerald Pushes Back on Josh’s Claims
Michele Fitzgerald was one of the first Challengers to respond directly to Josh.
Michele argued that Nurys had made it well known that she was still working through her feelings for Horacio and pointed out that Nurys is an open person who isn’t known for keeping her thoughts hidden.
Josh responded that he was glad Michele had been present for their bus conversations and insisted there was “no bad blood.”
Michele wasn’t backing down, however. She maintained that she knows Nurys well enough to understand the conversations and suggested that what Josh wanted to happen and what actually happened were two different realities.
Cara Maria Says Nurys Made Her Feelings Clear
Cara Maria also jumped into the conversation, and her response was even more direct.
Cara defended Nurys and argued that Josh had been “fending for Nurys since day one.” According to Cara, Nurys had made it clear to everyone that she had zero interest in Josh from the beginning.
She then took aim at Josh’s response, calling out what she described as his “audacity and lack of self awareness.”
Cara’s comments added another layer to the situation because she was not simply reacting as a viewer. She was part of the same Challenge environment and was publicly challenging Josh’s interpretation of his relationship with Nurys.
Izzy Fairthorne Also Backs Nurys
Izzy Fairthorne also weighed in and argued that the situation was about much more than Nurys simply interacting with Josh.
According to Izzy, Nurys’ actual problem was that she felt things were happening behind her back. Izzy also claimed Josh had directly told Ade that Nurys liked him — something Izzy said was clearly not true.
Her comments further supported the idea that Nurys’ issue wasn’t necessarily Josh himself, but rather how he interpreted and represented what was happening around her.
The Challengers Are Making Their Positions Clear
What makes the situation especially interesting is how quickly multiple Challenge personalities rallied behind Nurys.
Michele questioned Josh’s interpretation of their private conversations. Cara Maria defended Nurys and criticized Josh’s lack of self-awareness. Izzy also argued that the situation had been misunderstood and that Nurys’ feelings were being misrepresented.
Meanwhile, Josh has maintained that he was simply giving fans the full picture and insists there is no bad blood.
That hasn’t stopped the backlash, though.
The growing discussion suggests that whatever happened between Josh and Nurys behind the scenes is being remembered very differently by the people who were actually there.
For now, Nurys appears to have several Challengers publicly backing her side of the story — while Josh is being dragged for suggesting she sent him mixed signals.
