China Anne McClain has officially taken the stage on Broadway.
The actress and singer celebrated her long-awaited debut as Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, sharing a behind-the-scenes look at her transformation before stepping into the iconic role.
“TODAY’S THE DAY OF MY BROADWAY DEBUT in The Great Gatsby as Daisy Buchanan! I’m so excited, let’s have some fun tonight!!” McClain wrote on Instagram alongside photos from her dressing room.
The images captured the House of Payne alum getting the finishing touches on her glamorous 1920s-inspired look, complete with a sparkling champagne-colored gown, elegant bob hairstyle, and classic makeup fit for the Jazz Age.
McClain’s casting marks an exciting milestone in her career as she makes the leap from television and film to Broadway. Best known for roles in House of Payne, A.N.T. Farm, Black Lightning, and Descendants 2 and 3, the actress now brings one of literature’s most recognizable characters to life on one of theater’s biggest stages.
