A new era begins for The Challenge as the long-running competition series makes its move from MTV to Paramount+. Season 42, officially titled The Challenge: Cutthroat, premieres on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, and will stream exclusively on Paramount+.

New episodes of The Challenge: Cutthroat will debut every Wednesday on Paramount+, with episodes becoming available at 3 a.m. ET / 12 a.m. PT.

What Is The Challenge: Cutthroat About?
Season 42 revives the fan-favorite Cutthroat format, bringing together 24 veterans and rookies in Thailand. Competitors are divided into three teams and battle for a $500,000 grand prize. This season introduces a major twist: each team’s captain decides how the prize money is divided, creating even more opportunities for betrayal and strategic gameplay.
The move to Paramount+ marks the first time in nearly three decades that the flagship series will not premiere on MTV.
