After seven years competing on The Challenge, Josh Martinez says he’s experiencing something unexpected: an overwhelming wave of support from fans—especially while appearing on other reality TV shows.
During a recent appearance on Johnny Bananas’ podcast, Martinez reflected on the positive response he’s been receiving and admitted it has taken him by surprise.
“I never felt so much love leaving the show, and I’ve been a part of The Challenge for seven years,” Josh said.
The emotional moment highlighted just how much fan perception has shifted. While Josh has often been one of the franchise’s most talked-about competitors, his recent appearances on other shows have introduced him to new audiences and sparked an outpouring of support.
Reality star Pinkrose also reacted to the interview on X (formerly Twitter), joking that she and Gamervev would “drag” Josh and others on The Challenge, but defend them when fans from other reality shows criticize them.
She added that she’s even received messages in Spanish from fans defending Josh, showing just how passionate his supporters have become across different fan communities.
Josh’s comments suggest the love he’s receiving today feels different from anything he’s experienced during his long run on MTV’s flagship competition series.
As The Challenge 42 approaches, it’s clear Martinez is entering the new season with a renewed appreciation for the fanbase that has supported him both on and off the show.
