A powerhouse group of Hollywood legends is coming together for a brand-new comedy.
Director Tasha Smith has officially announced Women Like Us, an upcoming original film featuring an all-star cast led by Whoopi Goldberg, Jenifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams, and Vivica A. Fox. With a lineup packed with award-winning actresses and beloved entertainers, the project is already generating excitement across social media.
According to Smith, Women Like Us follows a recently widowed woman whose lifelong best friends and sister convince her to escape to the Hamptons on what would have been her 30th wedding anniversary. What begins as a getaway soon transforms into a heartfelt journey through grief, friendship, healing, love, and the realization that it’s never too late to chase the dreams you’ve put on hold.
The screenplay was written by Ali Kinney, with additional writing by Tracy Oliver, whose previous work has helped redefine modern comedy centered around Black women. The film is being produced by MACRO Film Studios and Higher Ground, with Michelle Obama serving as an executive producer.
