The Power universe has lost one of its most beloved characters.
During the fifth and final season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, fans were left heartbroken after the shocking death of Lou-Lou Thomas (Malcolm Mays). Long viewed as the emotional center of the Thomas family, Lou’s death marked one of the most devastating moments in the series and left viewers mourning a character many hoped would eventually escape the violent life that surrounded him.
Unlike many of the show’s ruthless players, Lou often struggled with the consequences of the family’s criminal empire. Is Raising Kanan ending?
Yes. Starz confirmed that Season 5 is the show’s final season. The series was renewed for a fifth season before later announcing it would serve as the conclusion of Kanan Stark’s origin story. The final episodes continue to bridge the gap between the younger Kanan fans met in the prequel and the hardened version portrayed by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in the original Power series.
Although Raising Kanan is ending, the Power universe isn’t over. Starz is expanding the franchise with additional projects, including Power: Origins, which will explore the early years of Ghost and Tommy.
For many fans, however, saying goodbye to Lou-Lou may be the hardest farewell of all. His journey was filled with heartbreak, redemption, and hope, making him one of the franchise’s most unforgettable characters.
