After six seasons portraying one of The Chi’s most beloved characters, Alex R. Hibbert is opening up about what it meant to say goodbye to Kevin Williams.
Although Kevin departed the Showtime drama before its final season, fans continue to hope they’ll see him return for one last appearance before the series concludes.

When announcing his departure, Hibbert shared an emotional message with fans, reflecting on the relationships he built throughout his time on the series.
“Growing up with these people since I was 12 years old… it’s my brothers. While I may be leaving this show, I am excited about what the future holds. I look forward to continuing to create meaningful and impactful work that resonates with audiences around the world. Once again, thank you for everything. I will miss this show and most importantly I’m going to miss Kevin, but I will cherish the memories and experiences forever.”

Kevin’s journey from a curious kid navigating life on Chicago’s South Side to a confident young man became one of The Chi’s defining storylines. His friendships, family struggles, romances, and personal growth helped shape the heart of the series.

Even after his departure, Kevin’s absence continues to be felt by longtime viewers, many of whom still hope the character returns before The Chi airs its series finale.

While Alex R. Hibbert has moved on to new opportunities, his portrayal of Kevin Williams remains one of the most memorable performances in the show’s history.
