Actress and singer China Anne McClain is heading to Broadway.
The former Disney Channel star announced that she will join the cast of The Great Gatsby as Daisy Buchanan, with performances beginning August 3 at the Broadway Theatre in New York City.
McClain shared the exciting news on Instagram alongside photos from the theater, writing, “Broadway, here I come! So excited to star in THE GREAT GATSBY as Daisy Buchanan, starting August 3rd! Time to get comfy in New York.”
The announcement marks a major career milestone for McClain, who has built an impressive résumé across television, film, and music. She first rose to fame starring in Disney Channel’s A.N.T. Farm before appearing in projects such as Descendants, Black Lightning, House of Payne, and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne.
Now, she’ll take on one of literature’s most iconic characters in the Broadway adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel. Daisy Buchanan serves as the story’s central love interest and is one of the most recognizable roles in American literature.
