ABC’s “The Rookie” Star Eric Winter is currently finding new things to enjoy while he waits for the actors strike to end!
The Star took to Instagram to share that he’s enjoying a brand new hobby.
He shared:
“I’ve been a watch guy for a long time and now I’m starting to learn a ton about vintage watches. @dcvintagewatches just tracked down my first one! The Seiko Ref. 6139. Back in the 1970’s, Swiss watchmakers Heuer and Zenith had taken hold of the entire sports watch industry with their well-publicized race to become the first to produce an automatic chronograph (then a bit like the race to develop the smart phone). It’s been debated who won, but in the background of the skirmish, Seiko quietly created their own, beating the Swiss at their own game.
During the early months of 1969, Seiko put the final touches on its revolutionary 6139 chronograph, and the Japanese company began placing the 6139 in automatic chronographs as early as January of the same year, and would eventually put out a wide range of models with the movement, to include mine. #newhobby #watches #seiko”

The Rookie follows John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), the oldest rookie in the LAPD, who uses his life experience, determination and sense of humor to keep up with rookies 20 years his junior. Nearing the end of his training, Nolan now faces his biggest challenge as a police officer when he must come to terms with the choices he has made in pursuit of the truth. Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, and Jenna Dewan join Fillion among the cast.
ABC boasts “The Rookie” as the No. 1 show among Adults 18-49 this season in its new Tuesday night programming block at 8 p.m. After making the transition in January, the series has seen an increase of 40% in Total Viewers and by 17% in the key 18-49 demo over the previous season’s comparable weeks. Additionally, the drama is up almost 6 times over its initial Live+Same Day rating in Adults 18-49 with a lift of 426% after 35 days of multiplatform viewing — meaning the series currently bests its prior season by 6% in Total Viewers and by 9% among Adults 18-49 after delayed multiplatform viewing.
