BET’s “Sistas” & “Zatima” Star Devale Ellis is one of our favorite celebrity dads right now and we’re loving all of the content he’s sharing via social media!!
One of the most recent post, Devale speaks about not forcing his kids to play football if they don’t want to play it.
Devale is a huge football fan as he was in the NFL for a short time before catching an injury and pursuing acting.
Devale took to Instagram to share:
“Football season is around the corner and as a retired NFL athlete with 4 sons I’m pretty sure most people expect me to throw my sons right into the sport.
NO SIR! But I do LOVE football and everything it provided me as a student-athlete and my family as a professional-athlete.
So I made a promise to Kay Kay that if THEY CHOOSE to play football (like I did) I will prepare them to dominate safely (like I did.) 😏💪🏾😁
Football is not a contact sport. It’s a VIOLENT sport and should be taught with the same respect for the athletes as we teach boxing, MMA & any other combat sport at a young age.
This is just my take but my boys require 2 years of proper technique and physical training to play the sport safely. Additionally THEY have to decide they want to play— not Dad or Mom.
