ABC’s “The Rookie” is one of the biggest shows on the network so not many were surprised when the show received a Season 6 renewal!!
The fans were just excited to get the ball rolling with filming.
Due to the writers strike, the show is set to return in 2024 and filming hasn’t even begun yet which is unfortunate.
Eric Winter confirmed The Rookie cast started filming season 5 via an Instagram Reel posted on June 21 2022!
“I don’t think there is a better way for me to come back for season 5 of The Rookie… Day 1…Dim Day 2 Bradford,” he captioned the video. “Vamos S5 💪🏼💥.” (“Vamos” translates to “Let’s go” in English.)”
This exact time would be the start of filming for Season 6 if the writers strike wasn’t happening! We will keep everyone updated on when the show will resume filming.
The Rookie stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Mekia Cox, Shawn Ashmore, and Tru Valentino. Lisseth Chavez recurs. John Nolan (Fillion) is a middle-aged divorced man from Pennsylvania who owns a construction company. He decides to give up his old life to pursue a new career as a police officer in the Los Angeles Police Department. He graduates from the Police Academy, is the oldest rookie on the force, and eventually becomes a training officer. He works with Sergeant Wade Grey (Jones), Detective Angela Lopez (Diaz), training officers Nyla Harper (Cox) and Tim Bradford (Winter), fellow rookie Lucy Chen (O’Neil), and the station’s newest rookie, Aaron Thorsen (Valentino).
The series will reach its 100th episode next season. The Nathan Fillion drama is in the Top 5 of ABC’s most viewed scripted series and a great utility player. It ranks No. 1 in new its Tuesday 8 p.m. time period this season among Adults 18-49 (tie).
The Rookie is created and executive produced by Alexi Hawley. Mark Gordon, Fillion, Michelle Chapman, Bill Norcross, and Terence Paul Winter are executive producers. Entertainment One is the lead studio and international distributor of The Rookie. The series is a co-production with ABC Signature, a part of Disney Television Studios
