“Sistas” & “Zatima” Star Devale Ellis celebrated Mother’s Day for the ladies in his life over the week and he shared a few amazing post dedicated to his mom Karen and wife Khadeen!
He took to Instagram to share:
“I’m so blessed to still be able to call my mom even though she never answers her phone…🤦🏾♂️ Then calls me to fuss because “I never call her.” Then says, “My bad honey I see the missed calls.” 😂😂😂 I LOVE YOU MA!
I told myself I wanted to marry a woman to help raise our kids with the same dedication you raised us. The sweetness to hold us and rock us when we needed comfort, but the sternness to say “GET UP!” when we needed a foot in the a**.

He also shared a special post to his grandmothers:
“My grandmothers have always been extremely present. I spent every summer in Tennessee with my Nana (Dad’s Mom) and could always jump on the A train to see my Nanny (Mom’s Mom) before she moved to VA.
Here is a little Ellis fact: That apartment you guys watched me raise Jax, Kairo & Kaz in while building this multimedia empire was my Nanny’s apartment she raised my mom and Uncle Kev in since the late 70s. I requested she put my name on the lease while I was playing in the NFL just in case I needed a place to come back to. That 3 bedroom apartment was $900 a month in 2009 because it was rent controlled. I was able to start my family a raise 3 boys in that apartment without struggling. I purchased my paternal grandparent’s home while in the NFL so they could move closer to family and rented it out as additional income after I was cut from the Lions. Generational wealth comes in all forms. 😏
