Hallmark’s “When Calls The Heart” is currently preparing to return for a 10th season this summer and the creator is almost positive that the show will be around for a long time!
Late last month, Hallmark Channel has renewed “When Calls the Heart” for a 12-episode eleventh season while also announcing that Season 10 will also contain 12 episodes and premiere on Sunday, July 30.
Creator Brian Bird is now speaking out on how far he thinks the show will go because fans are scared that it will end.
He tweeted at fans sharing:
“There are good reasons for every decision, most of them the #Hearties will never know, but #WCTH has been underestimated and counted out several times before. I will only defer to Mark Twain on all the speculation… “the news of my death has been greatly exaggerated.
Profitability is based on ratings, which dictate advertising prices. And #WCTH consistently generates the highest ratings for scripted series on Sunday nights the last several seasons… so I like the #Hearties chances for a good long run in #HopeValley.
There are many good reasons for every decision. And trust me, we are very strong in the demos that matter to us. My optimism is not misplaced. May I suggest, stop fretting and speculating and embrace the optimism with me? Just my two cents.”

“When Calls the Heart,” which is inspired by Janette Oke’s book of the same name, premiered in 2014. The original cast included Erin Krakow, Daniel Lissing, Lori Loughlin and Jack Wagner, among many supporting actors. Lissing was written off in Season 5 when he character was killed; in turn, Chris McNally joined the series as Lucas, a new love interest for Krakow’s Elizabeth.
Hallmark EVP of programming Lisa Hamilton Daly shared: “When Calls the Heart has continued to be a standout amongst our Hallmark catalogue and we’re thrilled that we’re able to bring more stories of faith and community to the homes of millions of viewers. The uplifting nature of the show paired with the love and positivity in the storytelling makes for a very heartwarming television experience and it’s only going to get bigger and better in Season 11.”
