“The Winchesters” Creator Talks Possible Season 2

The Winchesters season 2

The CW’s “The Winchesters” Season 1 finale just aired and fans are waiting for the show to officially get picked up for a 2nd season!

Recently, Nexstar Media Group acquired majority ownership of The CW which makes things a little different over at the network.

Creator Robbie Thompson spoke to TVLINE and shared that he is holding onto hope that the show will see a renewal.

He shared:

“I’ve spoken a lot with our partners at Warner Bros. because, obviously, we’re not sure what’s happening. We’ve talked about places…that we may have to look to down the road ifthe show is not renewed and needs a new home. But the short-term answer is I don’t actually know and probably won’t for a little while. I can only say that, as uncertain as these times have been, our partners at The CW and and Warner [Bros.], in particular, have just been really awesome to work with.

We literally just finished this episode yesterday on Sunday. I’m just sort of basking in that, ‘Hey, we made it to the finish line,’ and whatever happens happens. I’m hopeful that we can tell more stories.”

Speaking of a potential Season 2, he shared:

“I actually wrote the opening of Season 2, just to kind of be like, ‘Do I know where this is going?’ And then when we got our 13 episodes vs. the 22 episodes, I looked at it as like, ‘OK, well, would this work now still?’ and it did. And so, I was encouraged that we were headed in the right direction, and that there was more story to tell, even though it would only potentially be a [13-episode first season], and that [the finale] could be satisfying without leaving people hanging, because that’s always the worst.”

We really hope a Season 2 happens, the show performed very well in ratings especially during the end half of the season. This indicates that people are interested in this story.

The two cross paths as they’re each searching for information about their fathers. They join forces with young hunter-in-training Latika (Khurshid) and easygoing hunter Carlos (Fleites) to uncover the hidden truths about both their families. Their investigation leads them to a rare book emporium, whose owner, Ada (McKinney), has an interest in the occult and could provide the missing pieces to their puzzle.
