Starz “Power Book 2: Ghost” Star Michael Rainey Jr. is finally speaking out about the doubts he had when he was presented with his own spin off show!
Via Digital Spy, Power and Ghost season one originally saw people being negative towards the character of Tariq, now many are rooting for him.
Michael Rainey Jr sat down with the publication for a brand new interview and spoke about this all unfolding.
He shared:
“Man it’s crazy… ’cause when they first told me they were gonna give me the show and base the show around my character I was just like, ‘What are you thinking? Like I don’t understand… what is it the thought process behind this, no one likes Tariq? What are y’all talking about? Like no one is gonna watch me.’
The writers put everything together just so perfectly. And they made it kind of easy for the audience to kind of, you know, resonate with Tariq and to understand where all his actions were coming from. To understand why he was doing everything he was doing, and why he’s doing the things that he’s doing now. So yeah, they did their thing, shoutout to the writers.”
The writers really deserve a huge round of applause because we remember the hate Tariq use to receive all over social media. Blaming him for the death of his sister and more. It was bad.

The hit Starz drama Power Book II: Ghost now has a return date for Season 3. The popular spinoff from the Power franchise will premiere March 17 at midnight on the Starz app, with the linear return scheduled for 8 p.m. that evening.
