Netflix’s “Heartstopper” has one of the most supportive cast right now and when the entertainment world gets crazy, they can always count on each other!
Kit Connor recently came out as bisexual after he was questioned on social media about his sexuality and some fans even went as far and said he was QueerBaiting.
Colman, who plays his mother on Heartstopper shared at the L.A. premiere of “Empire of Light” that she is “so proud” of Kit Connor.
“I am so proud of him, but I am not proud of how people bullied him,” Colman told Variety. “I think people should be allowed to have their own journey.”
“But I’m incredibly proud of him as a young man to deal with all of that and be in the spotlight. It’s unfair,” she continued. “But he’s amazing. He’s a very beautiful human being.”
The famous tweet that sparked chaos:
back for a minute. i’m bi. congrats for forcing an 18 year old to out himself. i think some of you missed the point of the show. bye— Kit Connor (@kit_connor)
Creator Alice tweeted her support for Connor as well:
“I truly don’t understand how people can watch Heartstopper and then gleefully spend their time speculating about sexualities and judging based on stereotypes. I hope all those people are embarrassed as F—. Kit you are amazing.”
Heartstopper Season 2 just finished up filming and fans can enjoy a new season sometime in 2023.
Heartstopper tells the story of Nick and Charlie, two British teens at an all-boys grammar school. Charlie, a high-strung, openly gay overthinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, one day are made to sit together. They quickly become friends, and soon Charlie is falling hard for Nick, even though he doesn’t think he has a chance. But love works in surprising ways, and Nick is more interested in Charlie than either of them realized. Heartstopper is about love, friendship, loyalty and mental illness. It encompasses all the small stories of Nick and Charlie’s lives that together make up something larger.
