ABC’s “The Golden Bachelor” Season 1 is officially over and Gerry Turner has his pick!!
Gerry picked to spend the rest of his life with the beautiful Theresa Nist.
It came down to Theresa Nist and Leslie Fhima for Gerry Turner’s final decision. Theresa won his heart in the end.
Gerry and Theresa shared the stage during the live show, gushing about their relationship they’ve been keeping a secret from the public since the show stopped filming. The couple announced they’re getting married sooner rather than later with an ABC wedding special airing on January 4, 2024.
Before The Golden Bachelor first premiered, Gerry shared that he had been married to his high school sweetheart Toni for more than 40 years before she tragically died of an infection in 2017. The Golden Bachelor has been well-received by fans. The viewership data speaks volumes: more than 4 million people reportedly tuned into the show’s premiere when it aired and then after a week of streaming across platforms, the total number of viewers reached 9 million. The show kept a stable 5M+ views an episode.
Season 2 is rumored to be in the works.

A retired restaurateur and doting father and grandfather, Gerry [GAIR-ee] Turner lives in his dream house on a beautiful lake in Indiana. He’s often busy hosting barbeques, playing pickleball, cheering on his favorite Chicago sports teams, four-wheeling and spending time with friends and family at restaurants and local haunts.
Always a romantic, Gerry married his high school sweetheart Toni in 1974, and together, they lived a full and happy life with their two daughters, Angie and Jenny, and later two granddaughters, Charlee and Payton. Sadly, after 43 years together, Toni suddenly fell ill and passed away in 2017.
Six years after Toni’s passing and with the support of his family, Gerry is ready to put himself out there and find a love that will stand the test of time in his golden years.
After more than 20 years of fostering love on “The Bachelor,” “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise,” “The Golden Bachelor” showcases a whole new kind of love story – one for the golden years.
