“The Gilded Age” Star Louisa Shares Post About Her First Broadway Performance

Louisa the gilded age

HBO’s “The Gilded Age” Star Louisa Jacobson is celebrating a huge accomplishment as her new play has wrapped in New York!

The Stars went from playing a 20th-century heiress in HBO’s hit TV show The Gilded Age to playing a modern lawyer in the Off-Broadway play Lunch Bunch. PlayCo.

Clubbed Thumb presented Sarah Einspanier’s Lunch Bunch at Off-Broadway’s 122CC, Second Floor Theatre March 15-April 8.

She shared on Instagram:

“LUNCH BUNCH” – a play by @saraheins , directed by @tara_ahmadinejad – is the first play I’ve ever performed in New York. It’s been a delight to expand in a role that is so different from anything I’ve ever done before, and I absolutely loved everything about it, especially the privilege of working alongside such talented and inspiring comedic actors. 💓

Lunch Bunch is based on the real-life Bronx Defenders’ lunch-sharing group, which Einspanier first heard about from a friend. The play explores how the characters cope with the systems that threaten their clients, and how lunch becomes a focus point for expressing care, competitiveness, and other feelings that can’t be expressed.

Starring alongside Jacobson in the cast:

Janice Amaya (Shhhh, Mushroom), Tala Ashe (English, The Vagrant Trilogy), Ugo Chukwu (Oklahoma!, What To Send Up When It Goes Down), David Greenspan (Dead Mother, She Stoops to Comedy), Francis Mateo (Love to Love You Baby, Mother Courage), Jo Mei (Anatomy of a Suicide, The Great Wave), and Julia Sirna-Frest ( [Porto], The Offending Gesture).

Jacobson is readying to return to “The Gilded Age” this fall.

The Gilded Age stars Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Denée Benton, Louisa Jacobson, Taissa Farmiga, Blake Ritson, Simon Jones, Harry Richardson, Thomas Cocquerel, and Jack Gilpin, with Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski. Other performers include Ben Ahlers, Michael Cerveris, Kelley Curran, Claybourne Elder, Linda Emond, Katie Finneran, Amy Forsyth, Michel Gill, Ward Horton, Bill Irwin, Sullivan Jones, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Nathan Lane, Audra McDonald, Debra Monk, Donna Murphy, Kristine Nielsen, Kelli O’Hara, Patrick Page, Taylor Richardson, Douglas Sills, John Douglas Thompson, Jeanne Tripplehorn, and Erin Wilhelmi. The American Gilded Age was a period of immense economic change, of great conflict between the old ways and brand new systems, and of huge fortunes made and lost. Against the backdrop of this transformation, this show’s story begins in 1882 with young Marian Brook (Jacobson) moving from rural Pennsylvania to New York City. After the death of her father, she goes to live with her thoroughly old money aunts, Agnes van Rhijn (Baranski) and Ada Brook (Nixon). Accompanied by Peggy Scott (Benton), an aspiring writer seeking a fresh start, Marian inadvertently becomes enmeshed in a social war between one of her old money aunts and her stupendously rich neighbors — a ruthless railroad tycoon and his ambitious wife, George (Spector) and Bertha Russell (Coon).
