“The Gilded Age” Season 2 Set To Premiere In September

The gilded age season 2

HBO’s “The Gilded Age” Season 2 just possibly had one of the biggest news slips ever and we’re a little bummed at the news!!

In February 2022, it was announced that “The Gilded Age” was renewed for a second season. From creator Julian Fellowes (“Downton Abbey”), the series debuted on January 24th.

Season 1 Plot:

The American Gilded Age was a period of immense economic change, of great conflict between the old ways and brand new systems, and of huge fortunes made and lost. Against the backdrop of this transformation, HBO’s The Gilded Age begins in 1882 with young Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) moving from rural Pennsylvania to New York City after the death of her father to live with her thoroughly old money aunts Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) and Ada Brook (Cynthia Nixon). Accompanied by Peggy Scott (Denée Benton), an aspiring writer seeking a fresh start, Marian inadvertently becomes enmeshed in a social war between one of her aunts, a scion of the old money set, and her stupendously rich neighbors, a ruthless railroad tycoon and his ambitious wife, George (Morgan Spector) and Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon). Exposed to a world on the brink of the modern age, will Marian follow the established rules of society, or forge her own path?

The premiere date for the second season hasn’t been announced yet officially but one of the stars of the upcoming show just shared the premiere month during an interview with TODAY.

Nathan Lane who portrays “the epitome of snobbery,” Ward McAllister on that show spoke about his role on his January 31st appearance on Today.

He shared:

“Season two won’t be coming on until September but that’s sort of like being part of a great repertory company. A lot of old friends and people I’ve loved from afar.”

September is so far away! Who do we need to speak with to get the date pushed up? Let us know!

Season 2 plot:

“The Gilded Age was a period of immense economic change, of huge fortunes made and of fierce rivalry between old money and new. Nowhere is that rivalry more apparent than on East 61st Street, where Marian Brook and her thoroughly old money aunts, Agnes van Rhijn and Ada Brook, live opposite the stupendously rich George and Bertha Russell. The Russells are both fiercely ambitious, he financially, she socially, and they are determined to reach the highest echelons of New York. Meanwhile in Brooklyn, Marian’s friend and confidant Peggy Scott forges her own path in the world of the Black elite. In this glittering world on the brink of the modern age, will the established rules of society prevail, or will the game change entirely?
