Netflix’s “Heartstopper” Star Kit Connor is currently celebrating a huge achievement!
The actor was one of the winners at the 1st annual Children’s Emmy’s taking home an award!
The 18-year-old won the trophy for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Preschool, Children’s, or Young Teen Program at the first annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards on Sunday. Kit Connor wasn’t in attendance at the ceremony but his Hearstopper costars Sebastian Croft and Will Gao were there and accepted the award on his behalf.
Gao shared support stating “Kit, he’s been so inspiring for us, and he really led the company of actors and this is so well-deserved. I can’t wait to give this to him,”. “Well done, Kit!”
Kit reacted to the win on Instagram:
The teen series also won awards for Outstanding Teen Series, Outstanding Writing for Alice Oseman (who also created the original comic), Outstanding Casting for Daniel Edwards, and Outstanding Guest Performance for Olivia Colman (who plays Nick’s mother).
We’re so proud of everyone involved! Well deserved and can’t wait for Season 2 in 2023!
Heartstopper tells the story of Nick and Charlie, two British teens at an all-boys grammar school. Charlie, a high-strung, openly gay overthinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, one day are made to sit together. They quickly become friends, and soon Charlie is falling hard for Nick, even though he doesn’t think he has a chance. But love works in surprising ways, and Nick is more interested in Charlie than either of them realized. Heartstopper is about love, friendship, loyalty and mental illness. It encompasses all the small stories of Nick and Charlie’s lives that together make up something larger.
