Showtime’s “The Chi” Season 6 Doesn’t Start Production Until 2023

The Chi Season 6 is happening and fans all over are excited about that news!!

The Chi has been a digital standout from the start, with its series premiere setting a sign-up record for Showtime in December 2017. Five seasons in, the coming-of-age drama set in the South Side of Chicago remains a strong performer, with Season 5 on pace to set a new record for the series in streaming, growing that audience by over 20% from last season. Per Deadline

During an interview with Michael V. Epps, information about when Season 6 will start filming was shared.

The publication shared: Production doesn’t start up again until January.

That’s a while meaning we won’t get the new season until maybe summer 2023.

Season 5 finale airs September 4th.

The Chi stars Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Birgundi Baker, Luke James, and Curtiss Cook. Guests include Kandi Burruss, La La Anthony, Jason Weaver, Iman Shumpert, Nia Jervier, Carolyn Michelle Smith, L’lerrét Jazelle, and Antonyah Allen. The story is a timely coming-of-age story centering on a group of residents on the South Side of Chicago who becomes linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption. The fifth season delves deeply into the many joys and complications of Black love: relationships, children, career, community, and self.
