Ann Dowd Will Star in “The Exorcist”! Per Deadline.
The reboot is being billed as both a new take on the demonic possession classic, as well as the first film in a planned trilogy.
Other stars attached to the film are “Hamilton” star Leslie Odom Jr. and Ellen Burstyn, who is reprising her role from the original film as Chris MacNeil.
Burstyn indicated that she’s already filmed her scenes.
“I’ve already shot the new version… nothing weird happened [on set]. There was a lot of weirdness on the first one,” Burstyn shared about her return to the franchise.
Blumhouse and Morgan Creek are producing the movie for Universal and Peacock. The first film in the new “Exorcist” saga will be released theatrically on Oct. 13, 2023.
