Reality TV has become huge over the years and especially competition reality TV!
When you think of competition reality TV, you think of shows like The Challenge.
The Challenge (originally known as Road Rules: All Stars, followed by Real World/Road Rules Challen ge) is a reality game show on MTV that is spun off from and mostly cast-contestant dependent on the network’s two flagship reality shows, The Real World and the now cancelled Road Rules. The Challenge is hosted by T. J. Lavin. The series premiered on June 1, 1998. The title of the show was originally Road Rules: All Stars before it was renamed Real World/Road Rules Challenge by the show’s 2nd season, then later abridged to simply The Challenge by the show’s 19th season.
The series is now in its 38th season and includes members from reality shows across the world like Survivor, Are You The One and Big Brother.
TIME magazine recently shared the Top 50 Most Influential Reality Series/Seasons and The Challenge wasn’t on the list. Survivor & Big Brother made the list and even sister series The Real World and Are You The One made the list.
So why isn’t The Challenge on the list? We think the show is currently in need of help. Fans love the fun side of the show and even the drama and the show seems to be turning more into a sport than reality TV. There’s tons of spin-offs happening and a world championship even but who asked for that?
The Challenge is 100% an influential season but we could see the show being one that is forgotten as time goes by.
