Jordan Peele’s #NopeMovie ’s $44M debut is the highest opening weekend at the domestic box office for an original movie!
This is the highest since Jordan Peele’s own film ‘Us’ back in 2019.
The film which stars Keke Palmer, Daniel Kaluuya, Brandon Perea and Steven Yeun debuts at #1 at the domestic box office with an opening of $44M, the second highest R-rated opening during COVID after Halloween Kills ($49.4M).
According to Variety,
“Nope” carries a production budget of $68 million, a good deal higher than the figures possessed by “Get Out” ($4.5 million) and “Us” ($20 million). Even with the larger financial burden, “Nope” looks to make a decent profit if word-of-mouth is strong.
