Prime Video’s “The Boys” has ordered a fourth season of Emmy-nominated superhero series, from Sony Pictures TV and Amazon Studios.
Eric Kripke’s adaptation of the bestselling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson was a breakout hit when it launched in 2019. However, like most of its counterparts, Prime Video does not release ratings information for its shows. While that is still the case, Amazon has shared data on the growth in viewers for the first three episodes of each season over their first three days of release. Over the first three days since Season 3’s June 3 debut, the worldwide viewership for The Boys has grown by +17% from season two, and +234% from season one, Prime Video said.
Now when will filming start?
Karl Urban, who plays supe extinguisher Billy Butcher on the Amazon Primehit, has confirmed that the show’s next season will start filming late next month.
Karl sat with Collider and shared that the show will resume in mid-to-late August, and he’s excited to reunite with the cast and crew for another go-round for the edgy, brutal anti-superhero show. First, Urban revealed the start date on which the show will resume filming again. “Yeah, we’re starting I think August the 22nd, we’re going to be starting season four. So I’m getting back, getting my Butcher back on, and I can’t wait.
